General Jackassery

So, remember that post about looking forward to the three day weekend this weekend? Yeah, the one where I said that I wanted to split wood and clean gutters and maybe do a little painting. Well that’s not happening anymore, apparently I’ll be in the office all weekend. Thad told me yesterday that the good news is the County doesn’t want to change the alignment of the road we’re working on. The bad news is that we’ve been waiting on them to make a decision before we proceeded any further and we’ve lost a couple of days work but we’re still expected to produce the package by the 19th (read 20th because the due date falls on a Federal holiday). So, Todd get’s to bust his ass for the next couple of days to try to limit the amount of time spent in the office this weekend.

Has anybody else noticed that it’s an absolutely GORGEOUS day? I just looked at the weather forecast for Huntsville and it’s looking like highs are going to be in the 50’s for the next 10 days or so. AWESOME! That’s warm enough to ride, so I get to bring my bike in tomorrow and I’m going to try to ride for the rest of the week and the weekend. Time for Spring Training!

Well, I’ll have to admit that my weekend started out in a way that I didn’t want it too. Seems that I have this terrible habit of tripping over the same obstacles time and time again. You’d think that I would learn, but I always forget the things that tripped me up and 6 months later I’m back in the same position that I didn’t want to be in. I guess I have to look at the bright side of things, each time it happens I’m in a little better position than I was the last time it happened. But that’s neither here nor there, and it really has no relavance on my life other than I need to remind myself from time to time that I really need to pay attention to what I’m doing.

So despite the way things were heading into the weekend, everything turned out pretty good. I really enjoyed having the opportunity to relax and not get anything done. Just kind of mill around all weekend. I looking even more forward to next weekend since I have a three day weekend to get somethings done around the house. I have fire wood that needs splitting and gutters that need cleaning and I may take the opportunity to do a little painting as well. We’ll see how things go. I may also have a cat by next weekend, you never know.

Anyway, that’s really all I’ve got for now. Nothing introspective and nothing funny, just the blah from a very relaxing weekend.

Gee-0ff posted this regarding NASA’s future plans for space exploration. I’m kind of like Geof on this one, all I can really say is WOW! That’s almost enough for me to want to go back to school and get a degree in Aerospace Engineering. Ofcourse I could probably just go back and get a Master’s Degree in Aerospace, but with all the prerequisite course I would have to take I’d probably be better off starting from scratch. Oh well, guess I’ll keep my job here and watch from a far. This is truly going to be an interesting couple of years if everything goes like the Washington Post says it’s going.

Well, it’s been a pretty productive day so far. Even though I didn’t get to work until about 10:00 this morning I’ve managed to fold laundry, straighten my room, vacuum the living room, my room, the hall and the office, sweep the laundry room and my bathroom, take out trash, straighten up my office (at home), get Nanook to the vet, run by the bank and take Sarah’s Christmas present (the one that Eddie Bauer screwed up) by the post office to ship it back so I can get a refund. I did that all before 10:00 this morning. The only things left to do are clean the kitchen, mop the floors (kitchen, bathroom and laundry room) and my house will be sparkly new and clean. (I sound like a fag right now I know. But I can’t stand to live in a pig sty anymore. I guess that’s just me getting old.) Despite not having much to show for my time at work so far I have still been productive here. I’ve been baby sitting the Electrical Engineering Co-op. She’s had all kinds of trouble getting Microstation to do what she wants it to do, so I’ve been their catch-all for helping them figure stuff out. And I’ve been in and out of cubical meetings setting up the plan of attack for getting out 95% design package out for the road that has been on my back since September.

In other news, there will be a new addition to Todder’s household. My friend Allison is desperately looking for a new home for one of her cats and I decided that I would take it. She’s solid black with gold eyes, and her name is Stich. She’ll be coming to live with me as soon as Allison get’s back from San Francisco and has a chance to get Stich altered. Then Todder’s animal farm will once again be in operation.

I have an old friend trying to talk me into taking her cat from her. I’ve been thinking about getting a get for a while and this seems like a good way to do it. She’s had the cat for a year and she says it’s very affectionate and playful and doesn’t scratch despite the fact that it still has it’s front claws. Anyway, I told her I’d think about it a couple of months ago. So I talked to her today and she asked me about it. I told her she never got me a picture of the cat so I don’t know what it looks like. So, she’s supposed to shoot me a pic tonight and I may end up with a cat in the next couple of weeks. What can I say, I’m a sucker. Could be really interesting with the dogs spending more time in the house. Definitely will take some adjustment. I’m turning into the animal farm again! Well, as often as I’m the only one home lately, it would be nice to have another companion.

P.S. The cat’s name is Stich…….cute! I know, I know it’s really the last thing I need.

In other news, aside from being completely out of my mind with boredom today’s a pretty happy day.

I was driving up Hughes Rd. in Madison, on my way back from the Super Wally-World on Hwy. 20 and I noticed that there’s a Cheeburger Cheeburger in the shopping center at Browns Ferry and Hughes. I didn’t know there was another Cheeburger in the area aside from the one on Airport.

This is a picture I got tonight while driving home from my hockey game. The sun was setting and I thought it would be really pretty. I’m sure it would have had I taken time to actually shoot the picture the right way. Unfortunately I was doing about 80 mph down the interstate and I thought it prudent to pay more attention to driving than photography. Anyway, you can get an idea of how pretty the shot could have been had I stopped.

My Dad’s Wife Melissa sent this picture. They apparently had some pretty bad rains up in North Carolina these past couple of days. Melissa said that the river that runs in front of their house was 7 feet about flood stage. Anyway this picture is of a tree that slid off the side of the mountain and ended upright in the middle of the highway.
