Hi. Geofro here.

Comment spammers … you can piss off. I just hooked Todd’s stuff up.

Bitch at me if anything breaks, people. [Yes, Todd, the administration area of WordPress is absolutely, utterly different. But you’ll get used to it pretty quick-like.]

PEACE!

Maybe one day some of the emotion will fade…..

I can respect both sides of the argument that rages today on just about everyone’s blog, and I can actually understand many of the reasons that both sides have for their respective arguments. What I can’t understand and really have a hard time tolerating is the lack of respect that we have for each other.

The United States is run on a majority rules system. However, it was not intended to be the majority craps on minority because we can system. I keep seeing a mentality that if you’re not on my side then you’re an idiot and I wonder how people think that attitude is productive. I wonder what gives people the right to say, “If you don’t like it you can move to Canada!” We are all Americans and this country belongs to ALL of us!

Like it or not, if you can convince enough people that you’re right then your idea will pass and the opposite holds true. Therefore if one party fails to win an election the blame lies on that party for failing to convince enough people that they are right. The work remains for them to continue to try to convince people to believe in them and to vote for them. That in mind, alienating them by calling them names out of frustration hardly seems productive.

I will reiterate the fact that I now firmly believe our country went to war with Iraq for the wrong reasons, but I remain hopeful that in time something good can be achieved. “Where there’s a will, there’s a way,” comes to mind and forces me to believe that we ALL must come together to convince our people, our governments, and our President that we should do what is right to secure and make safe the citizens and country of Iraq. We must do this for the Iraqi people, for the American people and for the rest of the world.

Many people agree that we went to war in Iraq for the wrong reasons. Many people believe that this administration (really we as a country because we as country elected this administration) bit off more than we can chew and many people throughout the world believe that we will fail. This is precisely why we MUST succeed! We must succeed because failure would be devastating to our country, failure would (as Osama says) expose the soft underbelly of what was once a great nation, and failure would take away what little credibility we still have in the world.

Alienating those who oppose us is a sure way to fail in all that we as a country must do. On the other hand, working with them to understand where the misunderstandings and disagreements are and repairing them will be the road to achievement far greater than our country has ever seen in the past. We set aside our differences to become the United States of America 200 plus years ago. We set aside our differences in both World Wars to do great things. Today we must set aside our differences again.

Finally a Candidate does the right thing!

Kerry Concedes! While I admittedly voted for him, I think it was in the best interests of the country that he concede the election to “Dubya.” I think if you do the math, there was no way that he was actually going to win, but if Kerry had somehow taken Ohio and won the Electoral Vote then the country would have definitely been in some serious @#$% because Bush would have still had a 3 million vote lead in the popular vote.

I think Kerry was a good candidate but the general consensus seems to be that everyone had a “Gut” feeling about him that wasn’t good. His campaign failed miserable to paint him as someone you could trust and while no one really trusts Bush they atleast know what they’re getting. I do wish that Bush would clean house in his cabinet and get some better people on board.

No More Roommate!

Filed under: General — Todder @ 1:07 pm

It’s a sad/happy day in Todder Land! Jackie got a job so that’s a great thing, but I’ll be losing my roommate because that job is in Alpharetta. Granted I’ll see him regulary becuase well, I have family in Alpharetta but it’s going to be interesting living alone. I haven’t really lived alone since I was working in Anniston. It won’t last very long though. Getting married sort of implies you’ll be living with someone.

Anyway, I guess this weekend Sarah and I will be helping Jackie move his stuff over to his new apartment. I think it will be good for Jackie, I hope he really enjoys it.

Good Luck Jackie!

Again with the boredom

Blarrrrr! I have about 2 hours left here at the office and about 9 hours before my plane leaves. Not REAL sure what I’m going to do. I had originally planned on changing into more comfortable clothes for flying all night, then heading out to grab some dinner before I make the trek across LA to drop off the rental car and check-in at the airport. I don’t see that taking me 5 hours though. It’s possible that given LA traffic I could take up to 2 hours to drive across LA, but based on past experiences I don’t think that will be the case. Sarah and I were in bumper to bumper traffic through downtown LA on Saturday and it still only took an hour to get from Santa Monica to Pasadena. Good thing I just started a new book. I’ll probably finish it tonight though. Oh well.

On a side it is confirmed that I’m heading to Colorado Springs on Tuesday. I’ll be in the air at 7:00 in the morning. The good news is I’ll only be gone one night. The bad news is I won’t get back to Huntsville until 11:00 P.M. and then have to go to work on Thursday. YAY!

Now 1 hour and 50 minutes

I swear this working 9 and a half hours per day sort of sucks!

Savin’ da govment some bling

So I decided that my flight from LAX was scheduled to leave at 6:00 A.M. on Friday morning, factoring in the 2:00 hours that I have to be early to the Airport, the fact that I would have to wake up an hour before that to get ready would mean that I would have to get up somewhere around 2:30 in the morning. Given the fact that I would be scared to death of waking up late and missing the plane I wouldn’t actually sleep except the 15 minute stretches between panic sessions and I was doomed not to sleep on Thursday night anyway. So, I decided to bump up my flight and catch the Red-eye from LAX to ATL and then an early morning flight from ATL to HSV. This means since I wasn’t going to sleep at all anyway, I’ll atleast be in the ground in Huntsvegas at 8:00 in the morning instead of 2:00 in the afternoon. So I save a $100/night hotel room and one more day with the rental car. Woot!

On another happier note! I found out today that I have flown enough miles this year with Delta to gain Silver Medallion Status! YAY! Only 25,000 more miles to go to get to Gold. 75,000 to get to Platinum. Gold is possible, platinum probably not. Although I have been flying a lot lately, but you pretty much have to fly cross country every week to get that status.

So anyway, no more boarding zone 11 for me. I’m moving on up baby!
