More on the Todder for President Campaign
Sarah was reading an article on newsweek the other evening and she said she had to look at the author to make sure that it wasn’t me. Apparently someone had written an article in which they stated that someone had asked them what their foreign policy would be. Their answer was that their foreign policy would be something that didn’t seem like foreign policy at all. They would implement an energy plan that emphasized the use of alternative forms of clean energy that reduced dependance on foreign sources of oil. The reason being is that eleminating our countries dependance on the rest of the world would be the single most empowering thing an administration could do for our country.
Think about how many hundreds of millions of dollars we send to the middle east each year for oil. Think about what our current trade deficit is. Simply eliminating oil consumption would wipe out our trade deficit.
Just a thought. I’m not saying that you need to sell your car and ride your bike every day, but I am saying that we should ALL start doing something to reduce the amount of energy we consume.
I saw a billboard the other day for a Lexus hybrid which made me pretty excited. Not because I want a Lexus, but it was exciting to think that soon it may be completely mainstream.

Yeah, the only problem is you really have to look at the gas mileage on some of the so called “Hybrids.” A couple of months ago I so an add for a GMC full size truck, “hybrid.” It got a wopping one mile per gallon better gas mileage than the regular trucks, but it had a generator in it that allowed for you to pull regular electric power off of it. I was really dissappointed that they would do that. Toyota/Lexus and all are usually true hybrids, but still you have to look.

Even if your gas mileage isn’t better, the emissions are still better though, yeah?

I don’t know, I haven’t done that much research on it. I actually hadn’t thought about it. Regardless, it’s false advertising for GM to call their trucks hybrids when they don’t use the electric portions in the drive train at all. It’s the same engine that all the other trucks have they just have it tuned better.
The Toyota Highlander Hybrid is using electric motors to power the back wheels and they are getting about 6 miles to the gallon better. That is a true Hybrid.
