General Jackassery

Well, I got the kitchen and bathroom grouted last night. I couldn’t have gotten it done without Sarah and Jackie helping me. I also got a coat of tinted primer on the walls in the kitchen and I honestly think that it will only take one coat of paint to get the desired color. The primer I used is pretty awesome and since it was tinted I’m already on my way to the color I want. Surprisingly enough the primer covered the dark blue under the chair rail very well.

So I’ve still got a ton of stuff on my To-Do list even though we made some pretty good progress last night. Jackie got a coat of primer on the back side of most of the cabinet doors last night, but there’s a lot of painting left to do. That primer is going to have to dry pretty fast if we’re going to have a chance at getting this done. Anyway the front side of the cabinet doors needs to be primed, the cabinet facing itself and the drawers need to be primed, the walls need to be painted the real color they’re supposed to be. Then the cabinets have to be painted with real paint. I’ve got to trim the carpet and get it put back in place wear it transitions to the tile. The tile floor needs to be scrubbed to finish getting the grout up. The toilet and sink need to be reset in the bathroom and the shoe molding needs to be replaced. After all of that is done I have to put doors back up, cabinet doors back up and clean the house to get it ready for company on Saturday. The next three days are going to be like an episode of “While you were out.” I’ll probably be working on putting the house back together until people start showing up on Saturday afternoon.

The one good thing about having people over on Saturday is that I’m forcing myself to get this done. If I didn’t have a deadline it probably would take me months to get done with this project. Instead the Kitchen will have been apart for about 10 days. Atleast now that the floor is in it’s much more useable. I can also move my table back into the kitchen and put the leaf back in it. That’ll give me a little more space to work off of.

Anyway, this is the story of my life for now.

Regarding travel. It’s looking like we might still get out of here to go to Pueblo on Tuesday or Wednesday. We were originally going to leave on Monday, but money wasn’t in and processed so it’s been delayed. Not to be disappointed by leaving late I’m staring down a trip to Charlotte to be at a meeting on Tuesday morning. So, a couple of things could happen. I could end up flying to North Carolina on Monday afternoon, going to a meeting in Charlotte on Tuesday morning, flying to Huntsville Tuesday afternoon and flying to Colorado springs on Wednesday morning. I could also fly direct from Charlotte to Pueblo, but we’ll see how that goes.
