I’m not what most people would call politically literate. In fact, I know just enough about politics to know that I don’t really know anything. Politics and Religious debate have never really interested me. I guess that’s where the blue collar in me comes out. I’d rather be playing hockey, riding my bike, working on my house or simply taking a beating with a brick stick than get in an argument about politics with people. I realize that I’m mostly over my head when it comes to that area of human life and I’m comfortable being in that position. I love my country! I’m proud to be an American! And I’m extremely proud that I live in a country that has such diverse opinions on everything and the freedom to express those opinions. The problem today is not what people think! It’s not the war, it’s not the economy, it’s not the president. The problem that the world has today is something far closer to home than the President, than John Kerry or Donald Rumsfeld.

Well, I got the kitchen and bathroom grouted last night. I couldn’t have gotten it done without Sarah and Jackie helping me. I also got a coat of tinted primer on the walls in the kitchen and I honestly think that it will only take one coat of paint to get the desired color. The primer I used is pretty awesome and since it was tinted I’m already on my way to the color I want. Surprisingly enough the primer covered the dark blue under the chair rail very well.

I got tired of looking at the pictures and the large amounts of text from each post. Truth is I’d forgotten how to reference links and do all that stuff and I just haven’t had time to go back and look it up. Anyway, I have a slight gripe that I want to get off my chest and I’ll put it behind the “more” link so you don’t have to even see it if you don’t want to. It has to do with the canoe.

Just Kidding! Well you know you have to pat yourself on the back sometimes! Anyway, check this out! Pay not attention to the condition of the counter tops in my kitchen. Needless to say I’ve been too busy to clean, and I’ve been living off of Dr. Pepper this weekend. This is my new kitchen floor. It’s not finished yet, but you get the idea. The Cabinets and walls will be painted this week and I’ll have quarter round down before Saturday as well. I’ll post pics of the finished product as soon as I can. For now, these are the teaser.
This This is the threshold that we made to go between the dinning room and kitchen and the office and kitchen.
and this is my little half bath.
Many thanks go to Jackie and Sarah for all their help, I think it’s all going to look really nice!
NOOOOOOOOO, I didn’t crash, wreck, get hit, hit something, threaten to not wear my helmet or otherwise cause myself damage so you can stop freaking out!
What I did do is pop a spoke on my 3 day old bicycle.

I got back into riding last summer because I wanted to loose weight and get in better shape. I ended up using the bike for much more than getting in shape and loosing weight. I used it to help find my limits, to see what I was made of. Over five years I rode the same bike and I put somewhere in the neighborhood of 10,000 miles on it. Cycling is something that I’ve always loved because you can ride and ride and while it might hurt to stay on the bike it is so rewarding in being able to be outside, to enjoy all the elements, to cleanse your mind and soul. It’s funny because I almost feel like a traitor. I rode this bike for five years and this morning I rode a new bike to work. Here’s to the passing of an old friend and here’s hoping that the new bike will carry me as far and as well as ol’ whitey!

I’m sitting here listening to U2’s Joshua Tree album and it brings back some good memories. Mostly of my first year of college. The album had been out for a while then, but I really go into it then. I think it’s their best.
